I cam across an article talking about a Baghdad Blog called Dear Raed and was enthralled for 15 minutes with what it had to say. It chronicles the goings-on of an Iraqi citizen living in Iraq from the start of the war to the current occupation. If every American would read this blog, I think so much ignorance could be cleared away. Or is that just me stepping out of bag and being naively optimistic. He (goes by the name Salaam Pax - hah hah - but is anonymous....FYI, that means "Hello Peace") talks about everything from social politics and governmental issues to personal feelings and cultural discrepencies. What you are given is the truth as unbiased as it can come and a realization that not everyone in the middle east is a "towel head" that goes around calling for a jihad for every little thing. What is especialy interesting is the realization by many in Iraq that the politics governing the occupation is not altruistic in anyway and that they truly fear what Bush is capable of. For them, and no doubt to many in this country, Bush is the same madman-esque character that despots are. Irony is beautiful thing sometimes. In any case, go read it.
On an unrelated note, I am once again floored by the inadequate respect and intelligence of the people I work with and how they can completely ignore and shit on a choreographer's role and work in the name of saving money and under the guise of knowing how the business works. Whoring myself out for the money is becoming tiresome, but the light at the end of the tunnel and the prospect of moving is too sweet for me to stop. But am I losing my backbone and integrity in the process? Or maybe I am just thinking way too deeply about a collective that spend most of their time in the shallow end of some swampy wading pool.
And the last note....four more days until this damned school year is over. Secondary education in America SUCKS ASS!! This is not about being an educator at all....no wonder this "country is falling to pieces," as my mother would say. The future of America lying in the hands of these students is a frightening prospect.
