At work right now. Have spent the last four hours trying to get my freaking computer here to stop crashing and start loading and working right. I finally had to have the IT person work on it and he fixed it. Thanks Ben!!!! I went to the pet store today with one of my co-workers to get some more fish for our aquarium in the office. She is a salt-water wildlife expert so we were looking around and stuff. This pet store (located on Busch Blvd.) needs to be shut down. The aquatic life is very well taken care of (and it had better be considering how expensive some of those fish are. Saw one for $129!!!!), but the rest of the store depressed me incredibly. They had a variety of rodents and birds who looked all depressed. First off, the store was like a sweat shop. The heat was incredible. The ferrets, hedgehigs, rabbits, mice and so on were all huddled in corners and trying to stay cool. Ferrets usually respond to noises and move around, but these were so lethargic. The most depressing was this beautiful white parrot (not sure what kind it was) that was not weaned yet. The poor thing was lying down with its head tucked in the corner and blinking every so often. I felt so bad for it. It looked so completely miserable. Underneath it was a green parrot who just kept knocing on the glass. Further down the line were parrot babies huddled against soft toys. I am telling you, it is disgraceful how pet stores can stay in business. There were flies everywhere and the place was dirty with disorganized shelves everywhere. I got more and more irate the longer I stayed in there. Pet stores should be like pet farms where the animals aren;t locked up in cages and people can actually touch them. If you can;t connect with an animal then buying it for a pet is pointless. Even if they are for sale they deserve to be treated humanely and with some kind of dignity not like livestock. I don;t understand people who don;t respect nature. One day, Mother Nature is going to have her ultimate revenge. I used to be so involved in ecogroups and ecosocities when I was younger. I even started a recycling program at my school back home. I need to get back into it. We are using more resources than we have and we are sacrificing everything that is natural on this planet because we are selfish wasters. It's like Moby Dick..don;t fuck with nature. I hope that I die before this planet gets turned into a wasteland. Books like Brave New World and I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream and movies like Gattaca and Matrix are not that fictional...we are not too far away from a future that resembles these futuristic novels that paint a bleak future for our race. Unless we releaize as a whle that we need to take care of this planet, we are headed for certain disaster and doom. COntrary to what we may believe, we are NOT the top of the food chain. Like I said, Mother Nature has a way about her. She is a patient force and when she does strike back, we won;t have a clue what hit us.

On a lighter note, I finally got Bryce!!!! YAY!!!! I dont know why I didn't think of this before but I asked one of the designers here, and sure enough he had it. So now I am excited!!!
