I know I know...I have not blogged shit since last week. I promise...I will update late today or tomorrow night. But on with the mission....
1. What is your favorite snack food? Does anyone you know have weird tastes in snacks?
Hmm.....pumpkin seeds. Actually, my taste in snack foods fluctuate, but the seeds remain a pretty good constant. Not that I know of....I have some pretty weird friends so who knows what they consume when I am not around.
2. Ever caught yourself saying "well it can't get any worse" and it does? What's the story there?
Yes, I have said that on occasion. I can;t remember when it HAS gotten worse...no wait...yes I do....an academic conference that my friend Sara and I went on last March. The 4C's convention for Rhetoric and Composition. We were both pretty lowon funds so we decided to get there the best and cheapest way possible. Here is the SHORT version of the story: We get standby tickets to go from FL to Houston to Denver....during spring break.....STANDBY tix I say. We end up in Houston then end up getting bumped from flight ot flight...we start out at # 12 on the list and end up somewhere in the 90s by the thirs flight....mind you we have been carting our luggage around ALL over the airport. We decide to hop on a greyhound bus, fork outt more money and take the ride through hell...Texas is a LONG state to get through. We get to our hostel in Denver (again, ave money) and it is a dump which runs Autobus de Mexico out of the lobby....our rooms have steel doors on them. We call a friend who is also at a convention who saves our asses by letting us stay with them. At one point in the evening I awaken to someone kissing my feet and toes, strange men come in and out of the room, people get drunk all over the place, we are made to hock academic goods for points, and then we fly home, get stuck in some airport over night from 11 to 6 am and then come home. THANK GOD....and after each disaster we said, "Well, it can;t get any worse."
3. I have a super-short attention span, and it always was my downfall in school, especially math class. What's your attention span like and how has it served you?
I have apretty good attention span if something interests me, and I can usually force myself to pay attention if I need to. However, I have also become adept at tuning things out...mostly people when they are talking to me and I have no desire to listen to what they have to say but I don;t want to be rude and tell them to shut up.
4. Do you believe in the existence of extra-terrestrials?
Yes...altho not the stereotypical images of them. I refuse to believe that in the vast expanse of the universe that we are the only living and intelligent beings....because if we're it then that is one royally fucked universe. There habe to be other life forms out there and I think it is just a matter of time before we run into them....or, since we are so late in the evolutionary history of the universe, we may very weel be the last ones left in the universe. Either way, yes, there is something out there, but if I were them I would find nothing of interest here on Earth....except for Yoohoo.
5. What do you think of the whole "crop circles" phenomenon?
Hmm...interesting. Not really sure. I have not read enough on them to be able to make an intelligent decision on them. I always think anything is possible but human history has shown that some of the most amazing phenomena have been the result of human hoaxes.
6. Ever had a time where you begin visiting with someone you don't know all that well and just find you "click" like long lost pals? Tell me about how that came to happen, and who was it? What kind of things do you have in common?
LOL.....oh god yes. Twice, actually. My friend Nate, who actually started out hating me with a passion. One thing led to another and he tracked my ass down online and started talking through AIM. We got to know each other well and clicked very quickly. We eerily have a lot in common, despite the fact that he is 7 years younger than I. It's an odd friendship that neither of can explain and have just learned to let go and let be. We have seevral things in common from our view on things to how we grew up, and from movies we like to sharing a passion for Megaman.
The second is my friend Sara. We knew of each other in college as undergrads and didn;t really get to know each other until grad school. She is fun and good people. I love hanging out with her talking about nothing, being academic, or mindfucking ourselves with movies, her Xbox, and arts and crafts.
7. When I was at the cemetery a few weeks ago, I began to recall my Dad's funeral so many years ago. It is so vivid, sitting there in the family room as his friends passed by and paid their respects, the music, his face, the tears. What funeral do you remember most vividly?
None of them. Death has never been something of sorrow to me. I always figure they are a helluva lot better off than I am. I see death as a release and as a new beginning, not at end, and while I may miss the person, I do not languish over the loss. It is all a part of life. I guess the most vivid memory would be my best friend's mother;s funerla. She had died of breast cancer and I can remember her father in terars and having an anxiety attack as he tried ot grab for the coffin to try and carry it to the grave. I can distinctly remember his face and the noises he made.
BONUS: How can I forget you, girl?
Because you dun tripped and cracked your triflin head open on the sidewalk.
